What is a sauce sandwich? Simply, it’s a ladle full of hot red sauce in between two slices of wonder bread. But it’s also a perfect representation of my food experience growing up in a home of Sicilian immigrants. When kids my age were eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I was eagerly standing around my Nonna’s kitchen waiting for her to make me a sauce sandwich. Those early food experiences piqued my interest in food and gave inspiration with what I do in the kitchen today. Some of the posts you’ll find here are proper recipes that I’m mostly satisfied with and others are still in an experimentation stage.
